As the candidate gets enrolled to any of the academic program or gets re-registered to the programme offered by IGNOU, the candidate is provided the study materials of the courses he/she opts for.
What is Study Material?
Study material is nothing but the course books prepared by IGNOU specially for IGNOU courses. The course materials provided to the candidate are in the form of well-designed printed booklets. The study materials prepared by the university are self-instructional in nature. Lessons termed as Units in the study materials are structured to facilitate self study since majority of the students enrolled to IGNOU are self dependent for their studies i.e., they usually don't have teachers or professors to help and guide them with their studies since IGNOU provides distance. Although the university offers the counselling sessions/classes to the students so that the students can clear their concepts and get some other valuable tips.
How is Study Material delivered?
Earlier the study materials were provided to the candidates at IGNOU warehouse immediately after the admission?re-registration process but this rule has been changed now. Now the candidates are provided the study materials by registered post. Although it may take few days for the study materials to get delivered to the candidate's door step but sometimes the delivery of study materials gets so delayed that the students has no other choice than waiting. In that case the student can download the pdf version of the course material and can start their study without wasting time.
